Basel is an award winning architect, photographer, and designer with a passion for all things creative and artistic. After completing his higher education at the University of York, UK moved to the Middle East and founded his own firm with engineers, designers, and artists working on hospitality, residential, commercial and public building projects in Oman, UAE, and Qatar. Basel’s signature architecture/interior design project is the Embassy of Palestine in the Sultanate of Oman for which he won an International Property Award for Best Public Service Building in Africa and the Middle East in 2013.

• Practices several different art forms including photography, wood burning art, and Arabic calligraphy.
• Taught architecture and photography at the university level.
• Founder of the Spirit of Ramadan photography initiative, where he was a competition judge alongside National Geographic’s Steve McCurry and World Press Photo Judge Shahidul Alam.
• Active member of the Royal Photographic Society of London the Philadelphia Photographic Society, and the United Nations Photographic Council.
