Ronnie Malley
Performer ~ Producer ~ Educator
Ronnie is a multi-instrumentalist, musician, theatrical performer, producer, and educator, with a background in Global Music and Performance Studies. He has worked with artists internationally and has composed/ consulted for many cultural projects in film and theater. Through his company, Intercultural Music Production. Ronnie has produced 4 albums of his own and written and performed an original play entitled “Ziryab, The Songbird of Andalusia.”
- Fluent in English, Arabic, and French, which enables him to perform music and dance from countries of the Middle East, Africa, India, South Asia, Spain, Europe and Greece, to name a few.
- Associate Producer, Musician, and Actor for an adaptation of Egyptian playwright Taufiq Al-Hakim’s “The Sultan’s Dilemma.”
- Faculty member at the Chicago Academy for the Arts.
- Teaching artist/coordinator for Middle East and North Africa with Global Voices Initiative.
- Veteran teaching artist with Chicago Partnership in Education.
- Conducts Arabic language residencies in Chicago Public Schools through his company.
BILAL SUNNI-ALI
BILAL SUNNI-ALI is a musician, performer, composer, educator, community activist and advocate. He has performed onstage with Gil Scott-Heron, Brian Jackson, Doug Carn, Stevie Wonder, Wynton Marsallis, The American Symphony Orchestra, Jimmi Hopps-Esspirit, Earl Turbinton, Pharoah Saunders and many more. In addition to being a musician, performer and composer, BILAL has been a community health worker and a consultant on alternative therapies, i.e. music as a healing therapy. He founded the SONG OF LIFE ENSEMBLE and INSTITUTE through which he teaches woodwinds, music theory, conducts Therapeutic Music Appreciation sessions & offers
