She is a member of the Board of Directors and Compensation Committee of Torchmark Corporation (NYSE: TMK), an S&P 500 company, and is also an independent director of KPMG LLP. Crain's New York Business named Linda one of the "50 Most Powerful Women in New York." She was named one of the "50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America" and one of the "100 Most Influential Lawyers in America," both by the National Law Journal. Linda is Founding President of the Center for Women in Law. The American Bar Association honored her with the Margaret Brent Award, its highest award recognizing the accomplishments of women lawyers who have achieved professional excellence and paved the way to success for other women. Past recipients include Sandra Day O'Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The Texas Lawyer honored her with its Lifetime Achievement Award, and the New York Law Journal named her a Distinguished Leader. Linda is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Her nonprofit boards include Catalyst, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and The University of Texas Law School Foundation. Linda holds a CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute. She is graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, where she was the first female Managing Editor of the Texas Law Review, and the University of Texas at Austin (Plan II Honors Program). Linda was named a Distinguished Alumna of the University of Texas at Austin.
