The annual Paint Herndon event is a celebration of the arts and the anniversary of the opening of ArtSpace Herndon. This one day outdoor event includes a painting competition, hands-on-art activities, an art exhibit, refreshments, and more - promising fun for the whole family. This year Art on the Lawn is returning to Paint Herndon!

ArtSpace Herndon is inviting artists, arts organizations, and arts businesses to sign up for a booth and be a part of Art on the Lawn at Paint Herndon!

Come celebrate the arts with us! Offer your artwork for sale or promote your arts organization and/or business to an expected audience of 500 people.  Have your own booth or join with other artists, arts organizations or arts businesses and share a booth.  On-site demonstrations are encouraged.

Artists:  All items to be exhibited and offered for sale must be created by the applicant or members of the arts organization registering for the booth. No dealers, no “buy/sell”, and no pre-made kits are permitted.All mediums of work will be accepted from painting, drawing, pottery, sculpture, fabric art, quilts, glass work, wood, jewelry, etc. All artwork exhibited and offered for sale should be family friendly: no nudes or images of violence are allowed.  

Arts Organizations and Arts Businesses:  Share information on your activities and promote your business with materials, children’s activities, and giveaways or prizes.  If prizes are offered, they must be awarded at the event.

Information on Booths:  A booth is a 10ft x 10ft outdoor space.

• All booths must be staffed for the entire time, 9:30am – 3:30pm. (volunteers will be available to provide regular breaks as needed)
• All participants will provide their own tent, tables, chairs, and any other equipment/display items.  Please note the site for your booth may not be completely level.
• No electrical connections will be provided and generators will not be permitted.
• Exhibitors are not permitted to bring alcohol or pets into the festival area.
• Open flames are not permitted.

Registration:  All participants in Art on the Lawn must register.  Registration and payment can be made in advance online, by mail, or in person. For registration details, visit http://www.artspaceherndon.com/calls-for-art/ or complete attached form.

Check-in and Setup:  The set-up of Art on the Lawn will begin at 8:00am on September 20th.  To learn their booth location, participants should check-in at the desk at the back door of ArtSpace Herndon on the Vine Street side of the building.  You may drive your vehicle on the lawn to your assigned space to unload but it must be removed by no later than 9 am.  If you arrive after 9 am you must carry all you materials to your assigned location.

All booths should be ready for public viewing/shopping no later than 9:30am.

Take-down:  Takedown can begin no earlier than 3:30pm, when the outdoor portion of Paint Herndon ends and visitors move inside for the reception and announcement of winners of the Paint Herndon Painting Competition.  

• After removing artwork and valuables, tents, tables, etc. can remain in place so that you may and come inside to enjoy the reception. 
• At 6pm, you will be allowed to drive onto the site and complete takedown.
• All items must be removed no later than 7pm.

Cost to Participate:  For artists selling their artwork and for profit arts businesses, the cost of a booth is $50.  There is no booth charge for non-profit arts organizations.

Weather:  Paint Herndon will be held rain or shine.  Art on the Lawn participants are to be fully prepared to protect against light rain, wind, sun, heat, etc.

In the event of heavy rain during the day, other Paint Herndon activities will be scaled back and/or moved inside and Art on the Lawn participants can close their booths early.

In the event of severe weather, Paint Herndon outdoor events and Art on the Lawn will be cancelled (the Painting Competition, indoor activities, and Reception will continue as scheduled).  As soon as we make a call to cancel, it will be posted on the website.  We will also try to send an email to participants depending on the time the call is made.

No refunds will be issued for inclement weather.

Rights:  Art on the Lawn participants grant ArtSpace Herndon and the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts the right to photograph and use images of their booth and displays for promotional purposes.

Warrants:  Art on the Lawn participants warrant and represent that s/he owns the copyright to the artwork displayed and offered for sale and that those art works do not infringe the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy or any other rights of any third parties or of any other person.

Liability:  Artwork displayed in and around ArtSpace Herndon will be exhibited at the artist’s own risk.  The Artist is responsible for insuring, delivering and picking up his/her artwork.

ArtSpace Herndon, Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts, the Town of Herndon, and/or their employees or volunteers are not liable for theft or damage to artwork in transit, on display, or otherwise included in the events associated with Paint Herndon 2014.

Agreement:  By registering for Art on the Lawn, participants agree to abide by all rules and agree to hold harmless ArtSpace Herndon, the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts, and the Town of Herndon.  Participants that fail to comply with these rules will be asked to leave the event.
