Using Metrics for Better Decision Making

  Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 8:00 AM

Many people don’t know the mission of Hormel Institute. Celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, Hormel Institute is an innovative cancer and biomedical research facility with collaborative research partners that include the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota, the Mayo Clinic, IBM, and many other leading research centers worldwide. Their mission is to cure cancer, which absolutely demands cutting-edge research, expert scientists, and world class data.

The Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence — in partnership with the Performance Excellence Network  and the St. Paul Area Chamber — is pleased to host a hybrid discussion on Thursday, April21: “Using Metrics for Better Decision Making.” We are excited to feature Dr. Robert Clarke, Ph.D., D.Sc., Executive Director of The Hormel Institute as the discussion facilitator.
Dr. Clarke will offer an overview of where The Hormel Institute stands today and the vision for the future, as the nonprofit looks to its next 80 years. He’ll also share some of the metrics they use to track research performance and their impact on decision making at the Institute. Dr. Clarke will share how they select their metrics, their measurement agility (how they shift what data they use in response to changes or updated understanding), and how they disseminate metrics and knowledge for better decision making, more innovation and breakthrough results – concepts that could be useful in any organization, even if they aren’t curing cancer!
This session is Thursday, April 21 from 8:00-9:00 AM CT (optional networking and mingling 7:45-8:00).
