Are you interested in the green jobs market? There has been a lot of buzz in the past couple of years about green jobs and the green collar economy. Two speakers will discuss the trends and projections for green jobs in the Washington DC region and illustrate how one agency, the District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), is ramping up its green jobs staffing and workforce development program.
SPEAKERS:
Jeannette Chapman joined the George Mason University Center for Regional Analysis in 2013 as a Research Associate. The principal mission of the Center is to provide research and analytical services in the Washington region focusing on economic, demographic, transportation, housing and fiscal trends and forecasts. Prior to joining the Center, Jeannette was the research associate at the Downtown DC Business Improvement District where she analyzed the major economic sectors of the downtown area. At the Center, she is responsible for tracking regional and national data. Her primary areas of research include housing, economic development and employment statistics. Ms. Chapman received Bachelor of Arts in both Economics and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.
Judieth Welch serves as the Human Resources Manager at the District of Columbia Sustainability Energy Utility (DCSEU). The DCSEU helps District residents, businesses, and institutions save energy and money through energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. Led by the Sustainable Energy Partnership and under contract to the District Department of the Environment (DDOE), the DCSEU is committed to environmental preservation, community engagement, and economic development.
