What is the GSP SSI all about?

The Greene Scholars Program is pleased to host our Summer Science Institutes to be held  at  Texas Instruments and Cisco Systems campuses from June 15- June 26, 2015. The primary focus is to provide hands-on engineering and science mini-workshops. During these week-long explorations, elementary, middle and high school students will engage in classroom discussions of real world applications of engineering and scientific principles. Science/engineering professionals will facilitate the week-long Institutes. Students will spend over 25 hours designing and analyzing solutions to real world problems. Students will also broaden their understanding of careers available in science, engineering, technology and computer science. Be prepared to be engage and have fun!

GSP SSI is open to both current Greene Scholars and non-member partcipants.

How do I apply for this program?

Students may apply to GSP SSI by clicking on the appropriate link below then complete the online application (register for grade that student will be entering in the Fall). Priority will be given to current Greene Scholars and other students who are from groups historically under-represented in the STEM professions and/or from low-income households.

Applicants will receive an email to confirm the receipt of their registration materials. Applications received after May 31 will be placed on a waitlist and will be notified on their status no later than June 8 , 2015.

About the Greene Scholars Program

The mission of the Dr. Frank S. Greene Scholars Program (GSP) is to help youth of African ancestry successfully complete higher education in science, technology, engineering and/or math (STEM), and serve as positive role models and contributors to their communities. The initiatives of the Greene Scholars Program are: to provide hands-on math, science and technology experiences which strengthen the student's leadership and problem solving skills, build the student's self-esteem, stimulate the student's intellectual curiosity and provide self-motivation to continue their exploration in STEM fields.  CAAAE is the parent  organization of the Greenes Scholars Program.
