Dear Friends in Christ,
Our spring Presbytery meeting is well in the works and coming up soon. I am delighted to invite you to attend! The Presbytery will gather on Tuesday, May 23, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Racine, WI. Along with Covenant Presbyterian and Second Presbyterian, we will carry out the business of the Presbytery, enjoy a wonderful education hour with the Rev. Melanie Harris, share a dinner, and finally worship together Tuesday evening.
The theme for this meeting is “Spirit Inspired Worship,” one of the Seven Marks of Congregational Vitality. Worship is that time during the week when the largest number of us join together to be God’s community. We place God at the center of our worship as we gather on holy ground, encounter God, and experience wonder. Worship becomes an active part of our lives as we take elements of worship with us into our day to day activities. Often, expressions of worship are different from one person to the next. With God at the center of our worship, however, we are not conformed to the ways of this world, but instead inspired with the love of our Creator and Redeemer. The Rev. Melanie Harris will help us explore expressions of worship during the education hour and then preach during our worship time.
This meeting will be both in person and virtual allowing you to choose how you would best be able to join us. The registration link is below for you to click on. For those meeting in person, the cost of dinner will be $10.00. When you register, you can pay for dinner via credit card or indicate that you will bring cash or check to the meeting. We appreciate your registering in the coming days so that we can let First Presbyterian know how many to expect for dinner.
During our worship time, everyone will be invited to share in the Lord’s Supper. For those in person, the wine (juice) and the bread (gluten free) will be provided. For those at home, make sure to set aside a sip of your own juice and a bite of bread so you can join us.
We will also be taking an offering. This funding will go to our Commission on Congregational Vitality to be used to help worship leaders at all levels of our churches cover the cost of future training opportunities. For those at home, you are welcome to donate to this offering by sending a check to the Presbytery marked for the May 23rd offering.
The COVID-19 virus remains among us, at least a little bit. Feel free to wear masks or take other precautions as you need to. Even so, we look forward to being together, physically and through zoom. Please be sure to register for the meeting below. See you soon!
