IFMA-SD: Emerald Plaza High Rise Tour - Wed 5/23/18

The iconic Emerald Plaza is San Diego’s most distinctive building to shape its skyline. The hexagonal green neon halos glow each night acting as a beacon for visitors and a symbol of downtown revitalization for San Diego businesses and residents. The building has 12% more exterior window surface than comparable square or rectangular shaped towers, due to its hexagonal shape. The tallest tower is 30 stories and 400 feet tall and the structure’s eight rooftops are angled at 33 degrees to match San Diego’s latitude.

Join us to learn what it takes to manage of a high rise of this size and prominence. The tour will include a presentation, behind the scenes tour of the new chiller installation, unique building features, historical references, maintenance requirements and Q&A session. Oh, the stories that these glass walls can tell!

Our Guide: Sonia Miro’ is the Director of Property Management, San Diego Region, for Kearny Real Estate Company. Her primary responsibilities include property management of Emerald Plaza, plus construction and property management duties within the San Diego portfolio. Ms. Mir� has a commercial real estate career spanning over 25 years including the development, property management and leasing of Class A office, industrial, suburban & high rise office and retail properties. Her experience includes operational and facilities oversight, capital and tenant improvements, employee training and mentoring, and excellent customer service. Prior to joining Kearny, she was the Regional Director, West Coast Property Management for BioMed Realty, overseeing a portfolio in excess of five million square feet of life science and office buildings.

Parking: Validated parking in the Office Tower garage. Entrance on Columbia Street (between C & Broadway), first driveway on left as you cross over the railroad tracks on C Street.

Non Member Fee: Membership, in IFMA and the San Diego Chapter, is on an individual basis (not by company). Cancellations: Due to rising catering costs, cancellations MUST be received a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the event to receive a full refund. Those making a reservation, but not attending the event/meeting (“No shows”) will be charged a $25 No-Show fee.
