OGM Retreat near Madrid Spain

Since August of 2008, students of all initiatory levels in Usui Shiki Ryoho have come together with Paul Mitchell and Phyllis Furumoto to expand the Office of the Grand Master for a few days in order to explore questions confronting the practice or to discover deeper understandings of the practice.  

Over the years many topics have been discussed and actions have been taken as  a result.  The calling of Reiki Home emerged from this group.  The process of the Succession of the LIneage Bearer has also been an ongoing exploration resulting in the articulation of the functions of the Lineage Bearer, Master Body, Student Body, and their interconnectedness.  We have experienced places of healing and reconciliation within the community.  These have occurred on an individual level as well as between the different groups within our practice.   

This year, as usual, we will be accepting topics/questions from the participants.  From the OGM we would like to speak about the different versions of the precepts:  the Japanese and the ones we selected from Hawayo Takata's teaching.  A report and exploration will be given by those who are involved in the Succession Core Team. 

If you are a student of First Degree, Second Degree, or a Master in the practice of Usui Shiki Ryoho honoring the spiritual lineage of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, and Phyllis Furumoto, you are invited to the Retreat.  

We ask you to arrive at the Convento by 4:00 pm on October 2 in order to have everyone registered by 6:00 pm.  We will have our first meeting at 6:00 pm until our dinner at 8:00 pm (20:00).  Please arrive on time.  

We finish in the evening Saturday, October 6.  This means that you are free to leave  the Convento as early as you need to Sunday, October 7.  The airport is about 1 hour taxi ride from the convento.  Please consider this when choosing flights.  

We ask all participants to honor our request of arriving before the start time and departing no earlier than Sunday morning.  Please make your arrangements to respect this request as this is a working Retreat and each member of the group holds an essential place in the circle.  

The week of work for the system is a full time job.  We ask that you drink wine only with dinner and with thoughtfulness.  We ask no drugs or other alcoholic beverages be brought into the convento. 

The  Interpreters are coming without reimbursement for their work in order to keep the cost lower.  They will receive their transportation and living expenses while with us.  We have arranged interpretation for Spanish, Russian, Dutch, and German.  

Though the convento does have the capacity for Virtual attendance, we are not using this facility for this event.  We will send out an email post during the time we are together.  In order to be on the email list, please send in an email to Renate, our organizer, and she will relay your email address and name to our scribes for the Retreat.  You may write back comments if you would like, we will post them on a board for members of the Retreat to read.  

We await your arrival with anticipation as every year is a magnificent example of how respectful conversation can lead to profound insights and sharing of wisdom.

The OGM would like to remind everyone that Paul Mitchell is on sabbatical (resting) year and will not be attending the Retreat.  Phyllis Furumoto will be attending.
