Turkey Day Regatta

The annual Turkey Day Regatta featuring one-design and pursuit race action on upper Galveston Bay is the last large regatta of the year and it's a great way to usher in the holiday season!  Join the South Coast Sailing Adventures team at this Houston Yacht Club (HYC) sponsored event and take advantage of a great opportunity to perfect sail trimming and navigation techniques while maximizing boat speed.

The race committee will run as many races as possible during the two-day event; usually two per day.  Event specifics will be announced at the skipper's meeting in early November.  Space is limited to 6-8 racers with a minimum of 5 required for participation in the race events.  Registration deadline is November 13.

Tentative Schedule:

Saturday:

9:30 am - Check in at SCSA for skipper & crew briefing

10:00 am - Complete departure checklist and depart dock

11:00 am - First race begins (approximate time)

4:00 pm - Sail to HYC for after race party; overnight aboard vessel

Sunday:

9:30 am - Depart Houston Yacht Club

11:00 am - First race begins (approximate time)

3:00 pm  - Return to the dock

4:00 pm  - Optional awards ceremony at HYC

Public: $225 per sailor

Club Members: $185 per sailor

The fees include boat usage, overnight accommodations aboard the vessel, race registration fees and entrance to the race after-party and awards ceremony.  Sailors should bring their own linens plus provisions for lunch and snacks on both days as well breakfast on Sunday.
