Planning for the Federation’s 37^th Annual Conference on Serving the Underserved is well under way and we want you to mark your calendars, make your hotel reservations, and get ready for an exciting and informative event!

Our Schedule At-a-Glance is just a click away, and we encourage you to make your hotel reservations now to attend our Pre-Conference Workshops on Wednesday, June 15 and 16 as well as the full Annual Conference on Serving the Underserved, June 16-18, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.

Our program will feature presentations by industry experts, top-level federal officials, innovative credit unions, researchers, and many more.  Among our confirmed speakers are:

 
Pete Crear. President & CEO of the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), Crear will offer a global perspective on credit union community economic development activities worldwide.

Sister Corinne Florek.  A pioneer in community investing, Sr. Corinne was an early supporter of CDCUs and CDFIs nationwide.  Under her investment leadership, the Adrian Dominicans became the first investors in the Federation's Community Development Investment Program more than 25 years ago!  Her belief in the credit union model is so strong, that every fund she has managed has invested in credit unions as well as the Federation.

Donna J. Gambrell. Donna Gambrell is Director of the Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund.  The CDFI Fund has been the greatest source of capital for credit unions for more than 15 years.  Ms. Gambrell will discuss the Fund’s opportunities, policies, and many innovative initiatives.

 

Tawana James. Charged with heading NCUA’s new Office of Minority and Women Inclusion, Ms. James will shape the agency’s efforts to implement equal opportunity and inclusion for all minorities and women within the credit union movement, and preserving credit unions run by and/or serving minorities and women.

A. Rex Johnson.  Owner/Founder of Lending Solutions Consulting, a leading expert within the credit union and consumer lending industries. An instructor for CUNA's Advanced Lending School Johnson has extensive experience as a credit union manager, and was an inductee of the Illinois Credit Union Hall of Fame.




Mark Pinsky.  Mark Pinsky is President of the Opportunity Finance Network (OFN), the Federation’s sister organization representing a range of CDFIs.  A long-time colleague of the Federation, Mr. Pinsky will discuss the short-term prospects and OFN’s long-term vision for the CDFI movement and the role CDCUs can play.

Jennifer Tescher. President & CEO of the Center for Financial Services Innovation, Tescher will focus on innovative programs and products credit unions can adopt to better serve their communities.
