Engagement & Interviewing of Adults

This hands on training is for professionals working with parents and foster parents involved in the foster care system or at risk of involvement. This will best suit new workers wanting to improve the quality and effectiveness of their information collection and interviewing skills or those that would like to brush up on their skills. The day long, interactive training includes many forms of multimedia to cater to all learners, including a scenario based interview activity that is specific to the worker's role in Child Welfare.
Training topics include:
-Effective interviewing techniques and the use of questions
-Phases of interviews
-Factors which may influence an interview
-Techniques to build a trusting relationship and obtain accurate and comprehensive information
-Awareness of personal biases, values and triggers that may impact an interview
-Techniques to manage resistance, hostility, anger and manipulation in an interview
