Grief and Loss

Training Content

Training focuses on separation, grief and loss for the children, parents and resource families associated with the child welfare system.  During this six hour training we will provide you the opportunity to:

    • ·    Re-examine the grief process as it relates to children and families in the child welfare system
    • ·    Understand how grief is experienced by families
    • ·    Assess and recognize grief and loss
    • ·    Recognize and understand birth parent grief and loss
    • ·    Examine the impact of grief and loss on the well-being of children
    • ·    Understand the areas where the child, birth family or resource family needs support.

This training uses a combination of lecture, hands on activities, case scenarios and audio visual materials. We hope it will be an interactive learning environment for those professionals working in and around families involved in the child protection system.
