Interactive Drama Strategies for Social & Emotional Learning
Exploring how drama strategies can support social and emotional learning for High School, Middle School and Elementary students.
4-Hour Professional Development Session:
Earn a CUNY Certificate of Completion and CTLE Credit for Professional and Level III Teaching Assistant certificate holders.
There is a natural connection between interactive drama strategies and their ability to build students’ key social and emotional skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Theatre can be a mask (to practice new strategies/techniques/modes of interacting) and a mirror (to allow them to see themselves, their choices, decisions and consequences)*. This workshop will provide a practical, hands-on introduction to a number of interactive drama strategies.

What our participants are saying about 2018 Professional Development sessions at CAT:
““I particularly enjoyed the role playing regarding the connection of SEL [Social Emotional Learning] and the character introduced later. I also enjoyed the model of asking open-ended questions specific to students who are exhibiting difficulties and issues in the hope of resolving them.” (2018 Participant)
