Workforce Planning Hamilton presents The Need to Make Skills Work: The Cost of Ontario’s Skills Gap, a keynote address by Daniel Munro, The Conference Board of Canada.
Attend this free event to find out about the economic cost of Ontario’s skills gaps, and the specific occupations, skills, and credentials employers and individuals need to thrive in the emerging economy...all with a Hamilton focus.
Skills gaps are projected to worsen if action is not taken to address them, and fears about a future of “jobs without people” and “people without jobs” are widespread.
However, little has been done to examine the true economic costs of Ontario’s skills gaps and what can be done to prevent a skills crisis. To address a lack of information, the Conference Board undertook a major study of skills gaps in Ontario, including a survey of over 1,500 Ontario employers.

Our event will introduce WPH's Hire Learning Initiative, launching ‘real time’ labour market information for Hamilton. Part of this initiative includes an annual survey to employers that will gather information on their evolving skills requirements. Participating in the survey will allow employers to communicate their workforce needs to colleges, universities, school boards, and job seekers with the goal of bridging the skills gap locally.
Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited; please register today via the button below.
