Child Development Associate (CDA) Preparation Program* (English)

Ready for a program to advance your career in Early Childhood?

 

WHAT: 60 hours of professional development along with observations, coaching, and mentoring needed to support you to complete your CDA Credential application.

HOW:  You will build your CDA Resource Portfolio, develop your CDA Competencies, and receive guidance regarding Early Childhood Education topics. Topics to be covered include: Maintaining a Commitment to Professionalism, Observing & Recording Children’s Behavior, Family Engagement & Effective Program Management. 

WHO:  Group Child Care Assistants and Teachers working with Infants, Toddlers or Preschoolers.  Family Child Care Providers and Assistants.

WHAT will a CDA do for you?   CDA meets the Mass. Dept.  of EEC Education requirement for Family Child Care Providers seeking QRIS Level 2.    CDA can be used to meet EEC Teacher or Lead Teacher Education Qualifications.   Educators can have their CDA Portfolio reviewed by several area colleges to receive college credit toward an Associate’s Degree.

Classes will run from Fall, 2016 to March 2017.   Instructor:  Michelle Campbell-Gaylord

Requirements to enter the CDA Preparation Program:

  • Must have an active EEC PQ registration number
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Good English speaking and writing ability
  • A minimum of 40 documented hours of College Coursework, CEUs, or EEC Approved Trainings
  • At least 1 year working in a EEC Licensed Center Based or Family Child Care Program
  • Willingness to learn and participate in a yearlong commitment of professional development

*This program does not guarantee receipt of the CDA Credential but does prepare for you the process, including visits/observations at your program.
