An updated hydromodication management plan (HMP) has been prepared for South Orange County and went into effect in September 2017. As the primary reference document for the Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP), the Technical Guidance Document (TGD) was updated to include (1) HMP performance criteria, which include hydrologic management and sediment supply management requirements, and (2) hydromodification design approaches, including water quality and hydromodification BMP design integration. To evaluate performance with applicable hydrologic management criteria, projects applicants must use the South Orange County Hydrology Model (SOHM). Additionally, avoiding impacts to critical coarse sediment areas is also required as outlined in the South OC TGD and HMP.
This training will focus on meeting HMP performance requirements, integrated BMP design, and interactive examples to improve SOHM competency. Project applicants and reviewers can then use this knowledge to develop more efficient designs and streamline the review process.
Please join the County of Orange and the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California for a ½ day training. The class includes hard copies of the presentation, take-home SOHM examples, and a continental breakfast and lunch. Participants must attend the training with their own computers/laptops with SOHM installed. SOHM is available to download at http://media.ocgov.com/gov/pw/watersheds/documents/wqmp/.
