Price

$199 per-person (private single room)
$165 per-person (shared room with one bed)

Price includes all presentations, six meals, and two nights in a comfortable room with private bath. Scholarships are available. Retreat payments are non-refundable.

Meals

The retreat will begin on Friday evening, starting with dinner. You are welcome to arrive any time between 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Dinner at 6:00 PM). The retreat will end at 1:00 PM on Sunday following lunch. Special dietary requirements will be gladly met if you make your needs known to our kitchen staff.

    The Church of Today 

Led by: Massimo Faggioli, PhD, and Helen Oesterle M.Div.

   

Massimo Faggioli and Helen Oesterle lead a thoughtful reflection on the state of our Catholic faith throughout the world since Vatican II. The retreat will start with a presentation of the idea of the Church at Vatican II, and will focus on the liturgical reform and its theological consequences. This historical-theological framework will provide a basis for discussion and reflection on the key issues of today's Church.

About Dr. Faggioli and Ms. Oesterle:

Dr. Massimo Faggioli worked in the “John XXIII Foundation for Religious Studies” in Bologna between 1996 and 2008 and received his Ph.D. from the University of Turin in 2002. He moved to the US in 2008, where he was visiting fellow at the Jesuit Institute at Boston College between 2008 and 2009. Dr. Faggioli is now assistant professor in the Theology Department of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul (Minnesota). He lives in the Twin Cities with his wife and their daughter. He writes regularly for Italian and American newspapers and journals on the Church, religion and politics.

Helen Oesterle is the Pastoral Associate at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Seattle.  She coordinates of a variety of parish ministries, including RCIA and adult faith formation, liturgy, children and family faith formation, website support.  MS. Oesterle received her M.Div. from Seattle University, Certification in the Mastery of the Catechism and is a Commissioned Lay Ecclesial Minister for the Archdiocese.  She is the mother of two children; teaches cycling and water aerobic classes at the WS YMCA; loves to go to movies, garden, bike, read, camp, hike, and going for daily walks with her two dogs; she is also a big Mariners fan!
