Advent: from the Latin "adventus," meaning "coming," this season is a time of waiting, expectation, and preparation. Just as Mary waited with joyful anticipation for the birth of her beloved son, Jesus, so to do we await the birth of our Savior in our hearts.

This retreat is a traditional, silent retreat preparing you for your own personal, internal celebration of Christmas. Time is provided for group discussions as well as individual and communal prayer, spiritual reading, reflection, and devotions. Opportunities are also available for the celebration of the Eucharist and Reconciliation.

About Fr. Northrop:

Fr. Jim Northrop was ordained to the priesthood by the late Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy on June 7, 1997. Fr. Jim has conducted numerous retreats throughout the Archdiocese and has traveled to Alaska and California to help with youth conferences. He is a teacher for the Archdiocesan Catechist Certification Program. He especially enjoys speaking about the Grace of Pentecost and the importance of rediscovering the role of the Holy Spirit within the Church and in our individual lives.
