Adjusting to the Uncertainties of Living with a GI Motility Disorder
Living with a digestive motility disorder can bring about many uncertainties. Flexibility in scheduling can get lost as the patient must often strategize and weigh the benefits and disadvantages of attending social events. Never knowing when the symptoms may become exacerbated or when a particular food may trigger a worsening of symptoms, the social perimeters can become smaller and smaller. And these are just some of the uncertainties that patients experience.
Join Kim as she discusses some of these uncertainties and provides suggestions to help patients cope and adjust.
Kim is a patient who was diagnosed with gastroparesis, colonic inertia, pelvic floor dysfunction, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, and C-diff. She also had a colectomy with anastomosis. Kim serves as a volunteer for the AGMD.
