In partnership with the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ILCADV), ODVN is hosting a virtual training opportunity for seasoned shelter advocates. In this advanced training for shelter programs, participants will deepen their understanding of trauma-informed best practices when serving survivors in residential settings. Topics will include survivor-centered advocacy, creating trauma-informed physical spaces, expanding access to underserved survivors, and the long-term impacts of vicarious trauma. Participants will hear a keynote presentation from Vickie Smith, CEO of ILCADV, as she draws from her decades of work as a pioneer in the domestic violence field, as well as a panel of Executive Directors of several Ohio domestic violence shelters on practical strategies to advance our advocacy with survivors.
