COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
Nutrition and Dentition
Angie Yorina, RDH, MS, PHDHP
Upon completion of the course dental professionals will be able to identify how proper or poor nutrition impacts the dentition and understand the importance of teaching their patients the health benefits and risks involved.

Eva Grayzel
Eva Grayzel transports dental professionals into the oral cancer patient’s experience sharing riveting details about her delayed diagnosis and finding the strength to persevere through the devastating effects of radical surgery and radiation motivating new thinking about oral cancer screenings and patient education. Her compelling narrative humanizes oral cancer, inspiring audiences professionally and personally.
Course Objectives:
- Inspire new thinking about patient communication
- Integrate screenings with patient education
- Internalize the physical and emotional effects of a late stage oral cancer diagnosis.
Angie Yorina
Angie’s professional experience spans more than 20 years in the dental health field serving as a practitioner as well as an educator. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association serving as a current budget committee member and a distinguished member of the Academy of Dental Hygiene Studies.
Angie is a current Certified Trainer through PFSA (Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance) to present “Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse” training to Pennsylvania mandated dental professionals. She also provides presentations to dental professionals about special needs patients including communication, nutrition, toothpastes, and polishing courses throughout the country.
Angie is a recipient of several awards and recognitions including PDHA’s Community Dental Health Award. Her professional volunteer activities include serving as a Pennsylvania Public Health Dental Hygienist Practitioner and for MOM-n-PA locally and in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Reading.
Eva Grayzel
Eva Grayzel first told her story at the 2003 National ADA conference on the main stage to 9,000 dentists. That’s when she knew she her story needed to be heard. Since then, she has become the voice for oral cancer, speaking internationally at dental, medical and survivorship conferences on the patient perspective. Six-Step Screening is her initiative to educate people globally about the signs and symptoms of the disease, for which she was awarded honorary membership to the American Academy of Oral Medicine. She is the author of two children’s books to empower children with coping skills and communication strategies when someone they know has cancer.

Registration fee includes course materials and CEU Certificate*. To receive your certificate you must submit your completed Program Evaluations and PDHA Continuing Education Credit forms at the conclusion of the program. Certificates will be issued for 6 CEU's and will not be issued prior to the conclusion of the program.

LCCC's first year dental hygiene students will be fundraising for their licensing exams. They will be doing this prior to the start of the program and during lunch. Please consider supporting them.

Continuing Education Credits: Mandatory continuing education is the law in Pennsylvania. Dentists must obtain 30 hours every two years; registered dental hygienists (RDH) must obtain 20 hours every two years; expanded function dental assistants (EFDA's) must obtain 10 hours every two years; and nationally certified dental assistants (CDA's) must obtain 12 hourse every year. For this program, six hours of continuing education credits (CEU's) have been applied for from the Pennsylvania Academy of Dental Hygiene Studies.

Lost / Misplaced Certificates: To receive a copy of a lost or misplaced CEU certificate following the program, you must contact the PDHA State Office. As recommended by the PDHA State Office, replacement certificates will no longer be supplied by the LCCC Alumni Office.
