Our Presenters - Kara Clayton and Aaron Sams
Kara Clayton is CEO and founder of Express Contracting, this year’s Central and South Texas Woman Owned Business of the year. Kara has grown her company from start-up to 20M in annual revenue. She has completed construction projects for the Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Air Force, the FAA, Customs and Border Protection, the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, and many others. Previously a school teacher, Kara bought her first small construction company in 2005. She has been named to San Antonio Business Journal's 40 under 40 and awarded the National Association of Woman Business Owner's (NAWBO) “Rising Star Award.” She lives in San Antonio with her husband, son, and dog Milo.
Aaron Sams served in the United States Air Force as a contracting officer in acquisitions for commodities, services, and construction projects. He gained government contracting experience administering subcontracts for a Fortune 500 company, where he was responsible for identifying, soliciting, and awarding subcontracts to small businesses for projects in support of the Air Force Enterprise Sourcing Group, located in San Antonio TX. He founded Sams Contracting, Consulting, and Training Company, which specializes in helping entrepreneurs in the areas of contracting, procurement, and project management. Mr. Sams has a Bachelor of Science Degree with Specialization in Contracts Management from Wayland Baptist University; and a Master Degree in Christian Ministry, also from Wayland Baptist University.
