"AFRL Budget, Workforce, and Research Priorities”
Update: Colonel Elena Oberg (Vice Commander, AFRL/CV) has graciously agreed to be our speaker in place of Mr. Jack Blackhurst, who is unable to participate due to AFRL mission requirements. We will meet as scheduled on 19 December 2018 (Wednesday) DPAAS meeting, 11:30-1:30 pm, 2800 Presidential Drive, Holiday Inn, Fairborn, Ohio. Presentation subject matter remains unchanged. Colonel Oberg will share perspectives on the AFRL budget, workforce, and research priorities.
As the vice commander, Colonel Elena M. Oberg assists the commander in accomplishing AFRL’s mission of leading the discovery, development, and integration of warfighting technologies for our air, space, and cyberspace force. She plays a key role in directing the Air Force’s $2.1 billion science and technology program and an additional $2.3 billion in externally funded research and development. She is also responsible for a government workforce of approximately 6,000 people in the laboratory’s nine component technology directorates, and the 711th Human Performance Wing.
Colonel Oberg was commissioned in 1993 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. She has served in a variety of space acquisition, operations and command assignments including leading the mission team responsible for hardware delivery and successful launch of the first Titan IVB, leading a 140-person joint space operations crew providing simultaneous support to warfighters around the world and helping acquire the nation's next generation imaging satellite system. Colonel Oberg is a certified Senior Operations Controller and holds several acquisition certifications.
Prior to her current assignment, Colonel Oberg was Vice Commander of the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
