Patti Thompson is the SCORE Course Leader for this seminar. Patti has over 35 years’ experience in business and tax consulting - working with subcontractors, manufacturers, retailers, service companies, nonprofits, and individuals - helping them understand their bookkeeping and payroll requirements and what’s needed to comply with the tax code.
This seminar explains the pros and cons of business entity selection (Sole-Proprietorships, Partnerships, Corporations, and LLCs) and issues regarding taxation and the type of business formation you choose.
Then we'll address why business record keeping is important and review various accounting methods that may best fit your situation. We’ll answer some of your questions about those pesky records themselves both manual and computerized, how long should they should be retained and things like “Do I really need a CPA, a bookkeeper or can I do it all effectively myself?”
We’ll review the major business reports that make up a Financial Statement and how they relate to each other. We’ll also have a few in-class discussion questions and, along the way, cover some accounting terms and offer some special tax tips.
Seating is limited, however, so please access the button below to reserve your seat. The fee for this three hour seminar is only $35. SCORE Business mentors will be on hand following the meeting to discuss any specific questions you may have about your business concept or operations. Additionally, you can follow-up with SCORE’s always-free individual business mentors.
