Led by STGi Early Childhood Specialists Michelle Self and Lynne Storar, this  2-day training is intended for TLC Facilitators, designed as a Train the Trainer for those who will be directly leading the TLC sessions.

Teachers Learning & Collaborating (TLC) is a unique Practice-Based Coaching approach, to support teachers/home visitors to improve education practices. TLC is essentially a group format of the Practice-Based Coaching model, with self, peer, and expert coaching components, which creates collaborative teaching communities for ongoing professional development. This approach can be used across different types of programs and age groups, including center-based and home-based programs. This TLC model is designed to meet the need for quality improvement efforts that focus explicitly on teacher-child interactions. This session is for those interested in facilitating TLCs in their program.

 TLC OVERVIEW

  • A group format Practice-Based Coaching model for ongoing professional development
  • Combines different types of coaching: expert (trained facilitator), peer (fellow participants), and self (participant) coaching
  • In-person participant work groups led by trained facilitators, supported by independent classroom video recordings, and guided by group discussions on practices
  • Process to focus on teaching practice using video recording, reflection, group and individual feedback
  • Cost-effective way to provide group coaching using NCQTL resources, including the NCQTL in-service suites

TLC Facilitators can be education managers, coaches, or other staff who support teachers within your program or grantee. TLC Facilitators should plan to commit 12–15 hours/month to prepare for sessions, conduct individual teacher meetings and to lead the TLC process

In addition to this event, Training for TLC Facilitators includes:

  • instruction in how to lead group discussions, how to promote intentional video recording, and how to coach participants
  • the TLC Facilitation Manual, TLC Session Guides, and support to implement the TLCs.

Registration Fee: $190 includes lunch both days and all materials.
