  We are very pleased to announce that Jack L. Blackhurst (AFRL/CA) will be our speaker at the 20 December 2017 (Wednesday) DPAAS meeting, 11:30-1:30 pm, 2800 Presidential Drive, Holiday Inn, Fairborn, Ohio. Mr. Blackhurst will discuss “Air Force Research Laboratory:  Driving Air Force Innovation for the Future”

Abstract:  The Air Force has begun to shift its approach for how it looks for technology solutions to solve current and future warfighter needs towards more innovative and agile opportunities.  As part of this shift, AFRL is leading and involved in a number of innovation focused activities for the Air Force.  The Lab continues to align and connect with the evolving AFWERX ecosystem, and has taken on the challenge of developing new agile, innovative solutions to bring new ideas into the Air Force Enterprise.  This requires the Lab to look towards future warfighter needs for S&T and to consider new warfighting capabilities as part of the Secretary's S&T 2030 Study and Air Force Strategic Development Planning & Experimentation (AF SDPE) Experimentation Campaigns.  This presentation will offer the opportunity for industry leaders to better understand these innovation-focused initiatives, ask questions, and provide feedback on how to best leverage industry moving forward.

Jack Blackhurst (SES, USAF) is the Executive Director of AFRL. He is the principal assistant to the commander and the senior civilian executive responsible for managing the Air Force's $2.5 billion S&T program along with an additional $2.3 billion of externally funded R&D. He serves a government workforce of approximately 6,000 people in the Lab's nine component technology directorates and 711th Human Performance Wing.
