Paying Employees Correctly & Understanding the Fair Labor Standards  Act's Rules for Business Owners

SCORE and Paychex have partnered to present a free Lunch "N" Learm Program. Now through September there will be 3 events that focus on different subjects of importance to small business owners.

The next one, on May 18th, deals with important employee compensation issues. Even if you do not yet have employees you should be aware of these important issues for when you do hire.

The free workshop will cover the requirements laid out in the Fair Labor Standards Act that pertain to all businesses:

1. Correctly choosing exempt and non-exempt status classifications for your employees.
2. Understanding minimun wage calculations
3. Determining what is and is not  involved in calculating employees' hours worked
4. Recordkeeping requirements
5. Using & paying students, interns, and teenagers
6. Deducting from employee pay for uniforms, tools, etc. - what is allowed

strategies for staying current and compliant.
