Target Audience/Prerequisites
This course is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners and registered nurses with direct experience in the management of patients with, or at risk of, tuberculosis. This is not an introductory course. It is recommended that nursing participants attend a Nurse
Case Management course prior to attending TB Intensive.

Format
The format for this live event conference will include lecture presentation and case scenario analysis with audience discussion and participation. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

Program Description
Using highly interactive lectures and case studies, participants will be able to identify the facets involved in identifying and treating patients with latent tuberculosis infection and patients with tuberculosis disease by reviewing the current epidemiology,
pathogenesis, identification, and treatment of tuberculosis including issues that complicate treatment such as mental health issues and co morbidities.

Conference Objectives
Describe steps involved in initiating treatment for tuberculosis including distinguishing between infection and disease, distinguishing between tuberculosis and non-tuberculosis mycobacterial lung disease, and treatment of tuberculosis.

Describe the tools used in treating tuberculosis including a radiologist, laboratory, and medications used in treating tuberculosis. Describe the use of genotyping and interferon gamma release assays in screening for tuberculosis. Identify infection control measures in a health care setting.

Describe additional presentation of tuberculosis to include extra pulmonary, TB and diabetes co infection, and tuberculosis in children. Identify current recommendations for treating a patient co-infected with TB HIV and those suffering from mental health
issues. Identify CDC TB technical instructions. Describe the management of patients with drug resistant tuberculosis. Identify the ethical treatment of patients with tuberculosis.
