The Maker movement is growing throughout the country and encourages creative thinking, collaboration and the use of shared resources to access new technologies. Learn more about what this movement means for artists, designers and tinkerers and how it is being developed in the region.
Rachelle Beaudoin will discuss her recent project Positive Affirmation Underwear which was created in collaboration with Miss Baltazar’s Laboratory, a feminist hacker space in Vienna Austria. She will also discuss local maker initiatives spreading throughout the Monadnock Region including Monadnock Makers, a community Makerspace in Peterborough.
Rachelle Beaudoin is an artist who uses video, wearables, and performance to explore feminine iconography and identity within popular culture. She attended the College of the Holy Cross and holds a Master’s degree in Digital+Media from Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited nationally and internationally most recently at Keene State College Carroll House Gallery and at Combinat Vienna, Austria. She teaches Digital Art at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester MA and Visual Communication at Saint Anselm College, Manchester NH. She was a Spring 2013 Artist-in-Residence at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass CO. She will be a Fulbright artist-in-residence at quartier21 in Vienna, Austria in 2014. Rachelle lives in Peterborough with her husband Steven Roberge and their dog Theo.
