A different approach to seeking insurance may be what you have been looking for. In these one-on-one sessions, Scott Olmstead uses an initial evaluation, educating and showing you ways to minimize hazards that may lead to a claim through risk control and insurance products. He can also provide information in areas of compliance, human resources, safety and risk transfer.

Participants will have an opportunity to meet one-to-one with Scott. Topics to think about when scheduling a one-on-one session include:

  1. Evaluation of your businesses risks and hazards
    • Discovery-  what are you doing, how are you already protected
    • Disclosure- where your current plan is lacking and where you are doing well
    • Display-  What should be done to protect your business and to reduce risks and hazards
  2. Policy review
  3. Compliance review
  4. Loss control
  5. Safety programs
  6. Contract review
  7. What keeps you up at night?

Scott Olmstead, CIC of the Richards Group brings over 30 years of insurance and risk management experience serving the states of New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts and Florida. Scott grew up in Wilmington, Vermont with a family background in the poultry and dairy farming business occassionally helping out his uncle during sugaring season. Prior to getting into the insurance business, Scott worked at a couple of the local restaurants and Inns in the Mt. Snow region. Scott attended Castleton State College and graduated with a degree in marketing. He holds the prestigious CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) degree, earned after taking 5 courses of insurance and risk management and passing the exam within a 5 year period.

Scott decided to focus on the insurance and risk management needs of the industry he knew a lot about, farms, agri-business, specialty foods and hospitality and started to market to those industries through insurance plans, market events, trade shows, consulting workshops and other venues. This industry has seen considerable growth over the last few years, especially with new business start-ups. Scott feels it’s important for a new business to have every tool available to help them succeed and hopes his expertise and background will help them achieve their goal.
