Board 101 Training

with Ed Tomey

Tuesday, February 4th, 4-6:30 pm, Hannah Grimes Center

Board 101 is an introductory workshop for potential and new nonprofit board members who want to strengthen their knowledge about the key roles and responsibilities of a nonprofit board and its individual members. More experienced board members might also benefit from this workshop as a refresher course on being effective nonprofit board members and as potential leaders of nonprofit boards.

 Participants will learn:

  • The key roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members (as developed for The Corporate Fund and the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits by workshop presenter Ed Tomey).
  • To apply workshop concepts to help search for nonprofit organizations as potential venues for volunteering as board members.

Workshop leader is Ed Tomey, who has been a for-profit and nonprofit executive, organizational & leadership consultant, executive coach, and management educator for more than 45 years. He is Professor Emeritus of Management at Antioch University New England, taught management and communications at two Harvard University graduate schools for eight years, and consulted to hundreds of for-profits and nonprofits throughout New Hampshire, New England, and nationally. He is author of The Corporate Fund Nonprofit Board Self-Assessment and Partners in Performance: A Collaborative Approach to Nonprofit CEO Development and Appraisal. In 2012, the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits presented Ed with the inaugural Nonprofit Board Excellence Award for his 35 years of service to the state’s nonprofit boards.

Cost: $25. Registration is required in order to receive all notifications for the workshop.
