The Cape Cod Model of Organization Development

Simple application of complex theories – that’s what The Cape Cod Model, developed at GISC (Gestalt International Study Center) offers.  Exquisitely simple yet deeply effective, it offers micro-interventions for rapid and enduring growth and change.

The Cape Cod Model begins with an appreciative inquiry orientation:  organizations that are still alive today have done something right!  So often leaders don’t know what they do well if it’s an innate talent.  Therefore they can’t always recognize and leverage the strength from which they are working, and instead work hard to accomplish something with their senior team that could be done by working smart:  that is, aware of group strengths.  Learn how to engage leaders and teams on self-awareness for change.  Some elements of the model include:  pay attention to trust building, learning readiness, and small experiments in support of change.  

You will learn:

  • How to improve your “x-ray vision” for group process

  • How to intervene to reflect on a descriptive empowering metaphor for their group process

  • How to give real-time feedback to groups while they are meeting

  • How to assess readiness for your intervention

  • How to recognize client “resistance” as consultant sensitivity

About our presenter

Janet Britcher, President of Transformation Management LLC, provides group facilitation, executive coaching, and leadership workshops.  She has over 25 years of experience as a leader, and as a coach.  She holds an MBA with a concentration in Organizational Behavior, and numerous certifications including Cape Cod Model at GISC, Myers-Briggs, Neurolinguistic Programming, Hypnosis, Graphic Facilitation, and has extensive experience in teaching Non-Violent Communication.

She has held leadership roles in Human Resources inside of corporations, and has served on the boards of professional associations and non-profits.  She has taught management at Regis and Lesley College.
