Background:
Properties are central to Faith Communities. Churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, and other faith properties are place of worship, venues for community activities and centres for outreach. However, as faith communities evolve property needs change. Some properties may now be surplus, and others may need renovation and repurposing.
This Forum is focused on how faith communities/organizations are, and could, use property to further Missions, particularly to regenerate buildings and facilities to meet community needs, and do so in an economic and environmentally-friendly manner with community organizations, social service agencies, development companies, environmental groups, municipal governments and cultural institutions and bodies. Opportunities in such areas as, but not limited to: affordable and transitional housing, community services, homelessness, youth and seniors programs, arts and culture, and others.
The Forum has been designed for the leadership of all faith communities, community organizations, public bodies and private partners. The emphasis of the Forum will be on Innovation and Interaction: a) examining innovative faith property re-developments in Ottawa and from across the country; and b) offering leaders and volunteers from all sectors opportunity for interaction with speakers and resource people, and other Forum participants.
