Everyday Business Law & Your Business

Contracts, Service Agreements, Employment Agreements, Purchase Orders, Leases – what should be in them, who is responsible for what

In business you regularly deal with documents that bind you to others and others to you – customers, vendors, landlords, and suppliers. Those documents create legal responsibilities and obligations that can help or hurt you and your business.

Attend this workshop and learn the basics of key aspects of business law that you must be aware of and can use daily in your business.

  • Contracts/Agreements – what binds the parties? Are oral agreements valid?
  • Subcontracting – who is responsible for what (Principal/Agent responsibility?)
  • Obligations & liabilities of different business setups – General, Limited, & Limited Liability Partnerships, Sole Proprietorship, Regular C & Subchapter S Corporations, LLC
  • Co-Signers & guarantors – Differences & the impact of personal guarantees
  • How to sign documents to minimize liability

This workshop works whether you are creating documents that you want others to sign – performance contracts, service agreements, employment agreements, leases, purchase orders, etc. – or if you are on the receiving end of the documents. Once you understand the basics you will be prepared to make the right decisions about how you position yourself in everyday business transactions.
