A wide range of companies and services will be represented at the reunion conference.  We encourage all conference attendees to visit with the exhibitors while enjoying refreshments during morning and afternoon breaks on Saturday.

Refund Policy:  Fee refunds minus a $25 processing fee are issued up to 10/22/10 with written notice.  Refunds are not issued after 10/22/10.  Submission of registration implies registrant has read, understood, and agreed to program information and policies.

 

Cancellation PolicyThe BirchTree Center reserves the right to cancel the program.  In the event of cancellation, all registration refunds are returned to registrants.  This is the extent of any liability on the part of The BirchTree Center.

Keynote Presentation:  The Love Response®: Techniques to Regain  Your Sanity and Your Health

Eva Selhub, MD

Dr. Selhub, author of the The Love Response®, spent twelve years as a Clinical Associate of the  Benson Henry Institute for Mind/Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her research has led her to develop the Active Belief System™ which involves listening to your body's messages and identifying destructive beliefs that set up the conditions for illness and hold you back from a full and happy life. She will share with us the science behind the mind body techniques she teaches patients to release stress and experience vitality. Dr. Selhub will be available for Q&A and booksigning after her presentation.

 Carla Mariano, RN, EdD, AHN-BC,

Dr. Mariano developed the Advanced Practice Adult Holistic Nurse Practitioner Program in the College of Nursing at New York University.  She is Past-President of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) and recipient of the AHNA 2003 Holistic Nurse of the Year.  Dr. Mariano discusses Koan, the Zen concept meaning "a matter for thought" and shares her perspective of the opportunities open to holistic nurses in the new era of health, wellness and prevention.

Maria Lupo is an accomplished artist and registered art therapist.  She completed her Post-Masters Specialization in Art and holds a second Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology.  A recipient of many grants and awards including the NJ State Council on the Arts Fellowship Award, Ms. Lupo’s work is included in many public and private collections.  Maria will lead an experiential session exploring the art of creating a mandala as a tool for healing, communication, and relaxation for caregiver and patient.

 Linda Lewis, RN, MSA, NEA - BC, FACHE

Linda Lewis is a pioneering leader known for creating healing healthcare environments that nourish nurses and improve patient outcomes. One of the first Chief Nursing Officers in the country to incorporate a holistic and integrative care model in her organization’s Magnet® Journey, Linda is the recipient of AONE 2007 Innovative Leader Award for her visionary leadership. Known for her warm and authentic speaking style, Linda will share her insights on the process of bringing together all the elements of caring excellence.

Marie Shanahan MA, BSN, HN-BC is the Founder and President/CEO of The BirchTree Center for Healthcare Transformation. She established and coordinated the first hospital-based Holistic Nursing Center in NJ in 1996. Prior to starting The BirchTree Center in 2000, Ms. Shanahan served as Faculty and Program Director for Seeds and Bridges Center for Holistic Nursing Education and was a principle investigator for a major 2003 Robert Wood John Foundation Recruitment and Retention research project.

Veda Andrus, EdD, MSN, RN, HN-BC is Vice President for Education and Program Development for The BirchTree Center for Healthcare Transformation.  Dr. Andrus was Founder and President/CEO of Seeds and Bridges Center for Holistic Nursing Education and developed The Certificate Program in Holistic Nursing.  She is a Past President of the American Holistic Nurses Association and the recipient of the 2004 Holistic Nurse of the Year award.
