BIOGRAPHIES
Miguel de Oliveira, is Director of Global Innovation at Bunge, a global agribusiness and food company. Miguel, a chemical engineer from UFRGS, Porto Alegre, joined Bunge in 1985 as Production Manager. In 1990 he received a Ph.D. in Food Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, worked as Product Manager for Bunge in Brazil, and became COO of the ingredients division for Bunge Alimentos in 2000. In 2002, he helped create the leader in soy proteins, Solae, a JV with DuPont. He became VP of Meat Segment Strategy, Asia Pacific Regional VP (Hong Kong) and VP of Business Development. In July 2009 he came to NY as innovation head for all 4 Bunge’s segments: Food, Feed, Fuel and Fertilizer.
Eduardo Pupo, Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, has 25 years of experience on tax and legal issues in Latin America. He holds a LL.M. degree from the University of Miami, a JD degree from the Catholic University of SPaulo and an MBA from the Fundacao Getulio Vargas. He has lectured at The World Economic Forum and The World Research Group;. Mr. Pupo has served on the boards of the Council of the Americas; the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce; and the Editorial Advisory Board of The Economist, among others. International Tax Review named Mr. Pupo as one of the 10 Top Latin American Tax Advisors in USA. Mr. Pupo has co-authored books on Brazilian Tax Laws and Mercosur.
George Rodriguez, is Chair of the CM&E Group at the NY American Chemical Society, and Managing Director at Argeni LLC, an advisory on technology, business innovation and investments. Prior to Argeni, Mr. Rodriguez served for 7 years at the U.S. subsidiary of Nagase, a $7B Technology & Intelligence Japanese firm, as Deputy General Manager and Vice President of Business Development in Biotechnology & Nanotechnology. During 11 years, he had a central role at Pfizer in M&A, sales & marketing, cross-border operations and projects in Latin America. Mr. Rodriguez graduated first-in-class in both of his degrees: B.S. in Chemical Engineering, UNI-Peru, and an MBA from Georgia Tech.
Rafael N. Rojas is a Vice President at Deutsche Bank – Global Market Equities division, a leading global investment bank. Rafael manages the market risk working with hedge funds’ CFOs and portfolio managers. He was a senior market risk manager at Swiss Re Capital Markets covering the risk of financial derivative products and mortgage backed securities. Previously, he worked for Financial Security Assurance evaluating credit risk in over $20 billion of bond insurance. Prior to FSA, he was analyst at Moody's Investor Services. Rafael served in the Army National Guard. He holds an MBA from NYU and an M.S. and a B. S. in Applied Mathematics from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
