EfM Seminar: John Dominic Crossan

at Piedmont College

Piedmont College and the Education for Ministry groups of Grace-Calvary and Resurrection Episcopal Churches present a series of lectures by John Dominic Crossan in the Chapel of Piedmont College on September 10 and 11, 2010.

On this the ninth anniversary of the attacks of 9/11/2001, Dr. Crossan will explore God and Violence: The Normalcy of Empire and the Ambiguity of the Bible in four talks.  The first lecture, "Civilization and Empire," will be given on Friday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m.   The other three lectures, "Bible and Power," "Jesus and God'" and "Apocalypse and Violence," will be given on Saturday, September 11 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  Lunch on Saturday is included and will be on the Piedmont Campus.

On Friday evening the first lecture will be preceded by a reception and book signing beginning at 6:00 p.m.  On Saturday, lunch will be provided by Piedmont College at no additional cost to registrants.

A block of rooms is being reserved for seminar participants at the Hamption Inn, 161 Market Corners Drive, Cornelia, GA 30531. The rate for these rooms is $105.  That rate will be available through August 20, 2010.  To obtain the special rate mention "Crossan Conference" and call 706 778-0040.  Other places to stay in the area are Glen-Ella Springs Inn, Clarkesville; Tallulah Falls Lodge, Tallulah Falls; and in Cornelia: Days Inn, Best Western Inn, and Comfort Inn.
