Toward a New Jersey Marine Industry Cluster

New Jersey's shoreline, fishing industry, and many researchers and conservation groups are part of the lifeblood of the state. By studying these groups, and helping to develop connections to address common concerns, the NJ Oceans and Human Health Initiative is addressing the possibility of developing an ongoing Marine Industry Cluster program.

What is a Marine Industry Cluster?

In Norway, Scotland, Japan, and other coastal environments, Marine Industry Clusters help  bring new resources to the region, leverage existing universities and companies, and build greater awareness of the region's many benefits to an international audience.

Accelligent, our consulting partner, is offering a free Webinar to explain the concept, and its relevance to New Jersey. Topics will include:

  • Industry Cluster Background and Examples
  • Cluster Building Blocks - opportunities and challenges
  • Preliminary Findings; The NJ-OHHI Marine industry Survey

About NJ-OHHI:

The New Jersey Oceans and Human Health Initiative is a program of the Urban Coast Institute at Monmouth University. Funded, in part, by Bio 1 WIRED, the Initiative is working to convene thought leaders to address climate change, aquaculture and the seafood industry, natural products/drugs from the sea, water quality, and the wide range of relevant university research conducted throughout the state.
