TWELFTH ANNUAL BASSET HOUND WADDLE 2010
GOODY BAGS, INCLUDING A SPECIAL GIFT FOR YOU ALL, WILL BE GIVEN OUT AT THE END OF THE PARADE, BACK AT THE PICNIC FIELD so you don't have to carry everything while you are walking!
Parade starts 10am - we need to be ready by 10am so we need a dedicated team of volunteers to come early to help decorate the vehicles and get the order of our contingent organized! I need volunteers to contact me NOW so I can assign them to tasks. More information on the website HERE.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED... you are welcome to register on the day, but the charge increases to $15 for your first hound PLUS $10 for each additional hound.
Registration desk will be AT THE PICNIC FIELD, MARION PARK, GRANT AVENUE (the end of the Waddle route). We will run a shuttle bus, as usual, to take you back to the start line, or you will need to walk the ten blocks back yourself! Come early to make sure there is time to get you all back there. Drivers can drop off their families and dogs at the start (Reichert and Grant) and then drive to the Lucky's parking lot where they will park, cross the road to the baseball field, register for the family, collecting a collar ribbon for each hound, and get the shuttle back, which will help give more people a ride! You will need the collar ribbon to swap for a goodie bag at the end of the Waddle.
Please note, Basset Hounds only in the parade unless you have a service dog.
This is our major fundraiser of the year. Pledges are encouraged. Download the pledge form here. EVEN BETTER - try out our FirstGiving link. Follow the easy to use template, upload a photo of your hound and write an appeal to support him/her in their Waddle walk, and send it out to your whole address list via email. You will be very surprised how many of your family, friends and work colleagues will donate a few dollars for you. No actual cash to collect and have to send in. Your donors will know that their money is coming straight to the Rescue, and you can see who donates so you can send a personal thank you!
Remember, the hound who raises the most money gets a chance to be the King or Queen of next year's parade (and a super prize to take home for the year)! We will be counting the pledges after the parade, and will announce the winner at the picnic.
THE KING OF THE WADDLE WILL BE KIRBY... A VERY SENIOR HOUND WHO HOLDS A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN OUR HEARTS. HE IS CARED FOR BY DR MARK AND FRAN MADDEN!
(Kirby in 2010 and him playing with his pal in the late 1990s)
HIS QUEEN WILL BE ONE OF OUR BEST RESCUE STORIES OF THE LAST YEAR... ALICE... WHO LOST HALF HER LOWER JAW TO A NON-MALIGNANT TUMOR AND YOU'D NEVER KNOW! SHE IS PRETTY UNIQUE BECAUSE OF HER CURLY TAIL!
