NEW ENGLAND DAY OF CHANGE!

The day after State Radio wraps up their summer tour with a hometown show at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, join Calling All Crows for their first ever New England Day of Change.

The idea behind the New England Day of Change is simple: Serve Locally and Give Globally.

Serving Locally

In Connecticut, we'll be cleaning the Long Wharf Nature Preserve with our friends from Save The Sound!  We'll meet up at the large "V" (Vietnam Memorial), do a quick volunteer orientation, and then hit the beach.  Volunteers are encouraged to come prepared for the weather with water, sunscreen, and a hat, and everyone who pre-registers will receive a New England Day of Change t-shirt!

Giving Globally

Across New England, we'll be collecting change to support Calling All Crows' 2010 humanitarian campaign to stop violence against women in Sudan through Oxfam America's Darfur Camps Project. Camp residents have limited opportunities for earning an income. Traditionally, they are farmers, but IDP Camps suffer from insufficient and highly unreliable rainfall and sandy, clay-like soils. As a result, the camp residents can't pursue traditional livelihoods and food security strategies. Calling All Crows is focusing on livelihood training and income generation in two IDP Camps: Abu Shouk and El Salaam. Every dollar raised will go to help the women in three different ways: trees, training, and donkey carts. Click here to learn more!

Service Rally & Acoustic Performance!

As a bonus, there will be a rally and exclusive acoustic performance by Chad Stokes at high noon on Friday, June 18th at an undisclosed location in Boston for all volunteers who have pre-registered for any of the projects across New England!  So plan to make a day of it, head into town early, and meet some other State Radio fans who are also planning to roll up their sleeves the following day to make a difference.  You will receive an email on Thursday, June 17th with details about this very special pre-show event!

This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required.
