Scot McKnight is a widely-recognized authority on the New Testament, early Christianity, and the historical Jesus. He is the Karl A. Olsson Professor in Religious Studies at North Park University (Chicago, Illinois). A popular and witty speaker, Scot has given interviews on radio stations across the nation, has appeared on television, and is regularly asked to speak in local churches and educational events throughout the USA and in Denmark and South Africa. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Nottingham (1986). His blog, Jesus Creed, is widely read and highly influential, and one of his latest books is The Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible.

Mel Lawrenz was senior pastor of Elmbrook Church for the past decade before taking a new assignment as Elmbrook minister at large. In his thirty years of pastoral ministry, Mel has been involved in most aspects of church leadership, and has strongly emphasized the integration of worship into the general life of the church. He works with Elmbrook's worship staff in creating new worship experiences, and exploring how the ministry of the Word and the wider ministry of worship can be connected for deeper spiritual impact. Mel has his Ph.D. in historical theology from Marquette University, and has written eleven books for popular and professional audiences. His latest book is Whole Church: Leading from Fragmentation to Engagement.

The Elmbrook worship staff members, who will contribute to all aspects of this one-day seminar, include Dave Bullock, Elmbrook associate pastor of fine arts; Jan Keddie, Elmbrook worship coordinator and producer; Matt DePriest, Elmbrook worship leader; and Dave Hahn, Elmbrook visual communications director. This team works closely together on all aspects of worship, including music, visual arts, and other creative content. In this seminar we will explore how to build an effective worship team (staff or volunteer) for any local church.

The registration fee includes the seminar, snack breaks, lunch and a book.
