BONUS Event in San Francisco with Sheryl WuDunn!

Join us the day after our service project with State Radio for a special BONUS event on Monday, May 24th as we join Facing History & Ourselves at the Palace of Fine Arts for Half the Sky: A Community Conversation featuring Sheryl WuDunn!

Facing History & Ourselves and The Allstate Foundation proudly present WuDunn, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author who has reported from inside some of the toughest regimes in the world, from Myanmar to North Korea. WuDunn's latest book, co-authored with her husband Nicholas Kristof, is described as "electrifying" by the Washington Post and is on the New York Times bestseller list. Half the Sky addresses maltreatment, marginalization, and brutality toward women, and draws a compelling picture of the trials and triumphs of women struggling for opportunity and equality. By sharing powerful stories of resilience and participation from around the world, WuDunn becomes a model for Facing History teachers, students, and community members in her call for all of us to fight injustice.

This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required.

ABOUT FACING HISTORY & OURSELVES
Founded in 1976, we are an international educational and professional development nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage students of diverse backgrounds in an examination of racism, prejudice, and antisemitism in order to promote the development of a more humane and informed citizenry. By studying the historical development of the Holocaust and other examples of genocide, students make the essential connection between history and the moral choices they confront in their own lives.  For more information, please visit http://www.facinghistory.org/.
