70's Big Workshop

If you aren’t familiar with the 70’s Big website, you are really missing out on an ironically fresh perspective on training.  Justin Lascek of Wichita Falls Athletic Club has pulled out and dusted off strength training as performed in its golden age of the 1970’s.  No more glorification of the skinny guy in his skinny jeans; no more oiled and tanned bodybuilders of the 80’s and 90’s.  Justin takes us back to the time when lifters were lifters, plain and simple.  Spotlighting men and women who train to get strong, not just to look pretty. 

On Saturday, April 24th Amarillo Strength and Conditioning will be hosting the FIRST EVER 70’s Big Workshop.  We are greatly honored and extremely thrilled to say the least.  Justin describes the workshop content below:

“The 70's Big Work Shop will be an interactive lecture for trainees and coaches presented by people who train and coach. Being 70's Big is all about being strong, and the topics will cover basic fundamentals of strength training, how to help different sized athletes get stronger, dispelling myths about training and popular culture, how to deal with set backs and injuries, how to program strength training into an athlete's goals, and, most importantly, teaching little quirks about training that take some people years to understand. All this and more for only $85!

The workshop is adaptable to the needs and inquiries of the audience to ensure a comprehensive workshop. The presenters are national caliber lifters who have learned from coaches all around the country. They have the experience, they have the know-how, and they like to have a good time. Just to be clear, 70’s Big is NOT JUST FOR GUYS.  Justin will cover the importance of strength training for ladies concerning health, longevity, sport, and associated myths.

  • What is 70’s Big? — Strength, anti-emaciation, competition, education, etc.
  • The effect of strength on other physical attributes
  • How to start or continue training in a smart, efficient manner
  • Dispelling training myths
  • Points of emphasis for different populations (male/female, small/medium/large)
  • Dealing with injuries and setbacks
  • Programming guidelines
  • Routines, Rituals, and Training Quirks
  • Food plans
