Work Session

The NAPSG Foundation  is holding a 2-day training workshop – 2010 Maryland Public Safety GIS Work Session in cooperation with the Maryland State Geographic Information Committee (MSGIC) and the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).

The goal of the session is to bring together our emergency responders and public GIS practitioners is to foster collaboration that will give way to broader and advanced use of GIS in the State of Maryland for true emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.

Through the work session participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain an in-depth in overview of GIS within Public Safety & Emergency Management practices
  • Participate in a forum for the Maryland public safety community to identify key scenarios and the GIS professionals to answer with what supporting applications and data is available.
  • Explore the multi-jurisdictional obstacles (local-state, state-state, state-federal) and how we can build geospatial data & information sharing into mutual aid agreements.
  • Detail best practices for jurisdictional based integration of GIS into public safety and emergency management. - Answer the “Where do I start” questions!
