About CM&E
Chemical Marketing & Economics is a topical group of the American Chemical Society NY Section. ACS is the largest scientific association in the world with 160,000 members. CM&E organizes monthly events where industry leaders present original research and cutting-edge outlooks on the economy, business, investment and technology in energy, materials and life science.

Abstract: In 2015, when the chemical industry looks back at the current period, it will likely be remembered less for the impact of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, but more as the inflection point that hastened the shift of industry’s center of focus toward China and the Asia region. The Mideast, meanwhile, continues to transform the global petrochemicals production landscape and, in the first decade of the 21st century, will cement its position as the production hub for petrochemicals, most of which are destined for export markets in Asia and Europe. Given these dynamics, what are the challenges and opportunities facing the global chemical industry:
Speaker: Rob Westervelt was named editor-in-chief of ChemicalWeek in December 2006. Westervelt joined the magazine in 1994 as a reporter and editorial assistant. Prior to being named editor-in-chief, he was senior editor/news, responsible for Americas’ news and markets coverage. Westervelt has a BA in political science with a minor in journalism from Queens College (City University of New York). He is a member and a frequently invited speaker at the Societe de Chimie Industrielle - American Section, also based here in NYC, and he is a member of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

Luncheon Fees: $65 for Non-members. $55 for Paid Members of CM&E or SCC.
Early-Bird Rates: $10 discount for registrants who pay by credit card by Monday prior to the event.
Webcast: $30 for all. $10 discount if you reserve by Monday prior to the event. This event will be available as a Webcast live (1:00 - 2:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time) and also as webast recording for post-event viewing in the case of those traveling or with scheduling conflicts.
Student Fees: Same luncheon fees as Paid-Members of CM&E. For presentation only in NY, the fee is $10 for registrants who pay by Monday prior to the event.
