BearTown Weekend

The Oregon Bears is a fraternal, social and service organization committed to organizing events and activities that provide for the social enjoyment and camaraderie of its members, as well as providing resources (financial and otherwise) to selected charitable organizations. Though the Bear Movement is primarily based on an easy going and natural definition of gay masculinity, The Oregon Bears has always been inclusive and welcomes individuals from all walks of life. Founded in November 1995 with just 13 members, it has now grown to over 490 members and is one of the largest Bear clubs in the nation.  For more information on The Oregon Bears, go to www.oregonbears.org.

BearTown Weekend is the Oregon Bears’ yearly weekend festival. Held each June in conjunction with Portland's Rose Festival, it is four full days of fun events, parties and camaraderie with Bears and their admirers. Men visit from all over the Pacific Northwest, the US and the world to participate in what Portland has to offer and to enjoy meeting and spending time with their Bear brothers. Each year The Oregon Bears choose a local LGBTQ charity to benefit during the BearTown Weekend. This year’s designated charity is The Portland Q Center. For more information about BearTown Weekend, go to www.beartownweekend.com.

Q Center

Q Center is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization with a mission to increase visibility and foster connections within metropolitan Portland’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ) community. The center builds public awareness and support, and celebrates LGBTQ diversity through art, culture, and collaborative community programming. With dozens of events and groups that meet at the center, there’s always something to see and learn at Q Center, a safe and friendly place to spend an afternoon. For more information, go to http://www.pdxqcenter.org.
