Driving Directions

Learn to effectively transform and heal conflicts:
Internally  -  With / Between others  -  In Community

A heart-centered conflict resolution method using the tools
and concepts of Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
within an experiential mediation framework.

For:  Individuals, Couples, Parents, Mediators, Counselors,
Educators, Activists, Clergy and Laity, NVC ’ers, and all of us.

                        In this workshop, you will:

  • Learn a powerful  5-Step Process with 12 Core Skills.
  • Build your skills in engaging, fun, meaningful activities.
  • Stretch your heart in a buoyant, safe community of peers.
  • Receive guidance and support from coaches in small group practice sessions.
  • Leave with a framework for getting to the "heart of conflict"

quickly -- and compassionately reaching resolution.

How does this differ from other conflict resolution approaches?

  • Focus is on the quality of the connection between the parties in conflict, with the outcome emerging out of the connection.
  • Cultivates aliveness, with present moment emphasis, versus past or future.
  • Replicable across all areas of life: Same process applies to conflicts within oneself, between self and another, and between two or more parties.
  • Encourages parties to resolve issues from a flow of compassion, versus compromise, obligation or avoidance.

What other training participants have said:

"Each skill was broken down into digestible pieces, so the whole process was comprehensible."
"I'm finally inspired about mediation again, instead of just going through the motions!"
"I no longer think of conflict as 'getting through,' but as a rich, growing experience."

Facilitators:
Stuart Watson has been teaching conflict resolution skills for 15 year and sees mediation as his life path.  He coordinates the neighborhood and family mediation programs at Resolutions Northwest, and is in private practice as a Family and Divorce Mediator.  He has led dozens of workshops and practice groups, and co-founded a statewide organization to support people in learning and practicing Nonviolent Communication.

Lisa-Marie DiVincent has combined insight, compassion, and playfulness as a private practice therapist, mediator, and communication trainer since 1983. She has shared NVC with hundreds of people and co-founded the Oregon Network for Compassionate Communication, where she met Stuart Watson and forged a friendship that led to working together to help people liberate conflict.
