Community Job Creation & Economic Growth Forum

You are invited!

Northwest Women’s Business Center is hosting a Community Forum on Job Creation and Economic Growth for the Snohomish County Region, in conjunction with the City of Mukilteo and Mayor Joe Marine.  The Event will be hosted at Mukilteo City Hall offices, in the Council Chambers.

As a follow on to President Obama’s December 3rd discussion on job creation and economic growth, communities all across the nation are addressing the issue at the local level.  The results of the forum’s efforts, including our identified needs and opportunities, as well as constructive feedback on obstacles to growth in our region will be relayed back to the White House for consideration.

Attendees are being invited from all industry sectors including, government, non-profit, small, medium and large companies, education and faith-based agencies and local chambers of commerce.  This event is open to the public and we look forward to a varied list of attendees representing all aspects of our community.

Discussion Questions
On December 3
rd, the President hosted a discussion to explore every possible avenue for job creation, and the White House is also asking for input from across the country to identify opportunities and obstacles on the ground.

Here are the questions we'll be discussing on January 6th:

From what you have seen, or seen reported about the President’s Jobs Forum on December 3rd, what seems relevant to your community?

What parts of your local economy are working or thriving? What businesses and sectors are expanding and hiring?

What parts of your local economy are not working or thriving? What businesses and sectors have been hit the hardest? What are people struggling with the most?

What are the opportunities for growth in your community? What businesses and sectors seem poised to rebound? What do you see as the "jobs of the future"?

What are the obstacles to job creation in your community? What could make local businesses more likely to start hiring?

What other issues and ideas should the President consider?
